Leaving Worcester

The first narrow lock is right in the city centre by the Commendatory Museum but the traffic does not even know it is there.

The city is soon left behind and the countryside starts to take over once again.

We stopped for the night at Tibberton where a friend who was on business in the area came to stay the night. A meal was had in the Speed the Plough Inn with another drink in the Bridge Inn. It was nice to see Pete again after all these years and thanks for the occasional comment on the blog posts

The canal can be very narrow with overgrown reeds at both sides.

There are pretty cottages

We only went on the level pound through Dunhampton and it’s tunnel the next day passing Hanbury where there are plenty of moored boats and a boatyard that are close to the junction with the derelict Droitwich canal.

This canal is being restored and one day will provide an alternative route to the river Severn that by- passes Worcester.

We moored below lock 17 for a couple of days to recover and catch up with the blog and laundry, before tackling the next 42 locks to the top of the canal.
