To Kidderminster and Stourport

The canal after Kinver becomes quite dramatic in places as it passes through deep cuttings with sheer stone cliffs to one side.

A very nice chocolate box cottage deep in the country

A blind corner with stone cliff

Where the posh Brummies have their chalet homes

The main street of Cookley is above the canal

Fancy having a canal tunnel directly under your house!!!!

Debdale lock has it’s own cave!

At Wolverly there are plenty of gongoozerlers in the adjacent Lock Pub

The nearby village centre of Wolverly is very old and historic

It’s nice to see that the new housing approaching Kidderminster faces the canal instead of turning it’s back on it

We met Jeremy and Dorothy on Unicorn. We had spent and evening with them 2 years ago at Trevor on the Llangollen canal. Jeremy has written a book of a rooky American canal boater from Massachusetts in the late 60’s They operated the boat as a hotel boat for 28 years. Dorothy comes from an old canal family on the Stratford canal and had been involved in canals all her life. The

book is called “innocents afloat by Jeremy Scanlon and is recommended.

Approaching Kidderminster town centre lock.

We had just shopped at Sainsbury’s at the side of the canal hen found Tesco’s just down the cut. You are spoilt for choice in Kidderminster.

A fine canalside inn in Kidderminster
